Our verdict

Stake.us is a sweepstakes casino at stake.us, run by Sweepsteaks Limited, a Cyprus company (registration HE436222) incorporated in July 2022. Its terms name no gambling licence. It presents itself as a social casino: Gold Coins are for play only, and a second token, Stake Cash, can be redeemed for cryptocurrency prizes. That model is exactly what several US state regulators dispute.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board says it sent a cease-and-desist letter to the company behind Stake.us on 2 November 2023, after finding it offering online gaming in Michigan without a licence. Arizona's Department of Gaming issued one in June 2025, according to industry press, and a federal class action filed in Virginia on 31 December 2025 alleges the site is illegal gambling presented as a sweepstakes. Those are allegations and enforcement letters; Rixer has not seen a court ruling against the company.

The operator's own terms (version 18.0, dated 10 July 2026) allow play only from the continental United States and Hawaii, at 21 or over, and exclude 22 states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington and West Virginia. Ten revisions since February 2025 have each added states to that list. Disputes go to binding arbitration with the American Arbitration Association unless a player opts out in writing within 30 days.
